The undisputed fact about COVID-19 is that everyone’s life changed. The enforcement of lockdown was a tough life lesson for us all, which transformed our world literally overnight, making loss of life and livelihoods a devastating and harsh reality. No industry was spared from the disruption of the Covid 19 pandemic. Personal lives and businesses were forced to shift and shape to adapt to a new kind of normal. The fear of contracting the virus brought unprecedented change. Consequently our way of thinking, attitudes and behaviors have radically shifted.
As we look to the future it is very heartening to see that there are some very definite positive changes that are occurring in the country and also worldwide. It is against this background that Esayidi TVET College held its first Health and Wellness Day, themed “Work and Play. It was held at Margate Sports School on 20 October 2022.
The event was aimed at promoting healthy competition, improve productivity, networking, socializing, team building and ultimately to motivate and celebrate all that has been achieved during the very challenging times of COVID 19 pandemic. Fun was had by all the attendees including the sponsors who graced the event and showcased their products and services. Sports is a unifier and this was evident when different games were played by all staff. The morale was definitely boosted.
The event was organized by the Student Support Services and Human Resources departments. The staff from 6 main campuses and community development centers participated including the Rectorate, College Council members, Unit Managers and the support staff. They participated in different games including soccer, Netball, tug of war, egg race and aerobics.
